Worlds End
The Worlds End/Underworld Camden has been a North London landmark for as long as anyone can remember. This is not a venue for the faint hearted having hosted legendary rock, punk and metal acts such as Black Flag, The Foo Fighters and The Smashing Pumpkins to name just a few. The brief was clear, ensure the unique hard edged reputation and heritage filtered through and was reflected in every aspect of the venue’s branding, without feeling contrived or themed.

The solution celebrates quintessential underground imagery with a hand drawn logotype which drew its inspiration from classic punk and metal typography. This coupled with the choice of the iconic Friz Quadrata font (initially made famous in the underground for its use by the legendary new wave collective Black Flag) as the primary font sets the tone for the visual language.

We chose to use a clear and recognizable aesthetic which was carried throughout the promotional and merchandising materials. The concept filtered into every front facing aspect of the bar and venue which is clearly evident in bar menus which take its inspiration from the guerrilla act of fly posting.

During the Worlds End workshops it had come to our attention that every single member of the team could claim they had witnessed their favorite gig at the the famous basement venue. We decided to harness these personal stories and run a ballot with a list of archived gigs and dates chosen by the team members, the winning gigs were selected and printed as part of the final hand drawn artwork applied to the staff t-shirts and customer merchandise.
